These are probably three questions that immediately enter your mind when the transmission in your vehicle begins to malfunction, and quite frankly they are all legitimate concerns. The unfortunate reality of the matter is they are all probably premature questions. Unless you have a glaring hole in the side of your automatic transmission case, or part of your 4-wheel drive transmission is laying on your garage floor, it is almost impossible to determine whether you need a new transmission, or need your transmission rebuilt, without a thorough examination of the vehicle including all electrical circuits, as well as a computer diagnostic scan.

How would you feel if you took your car or truck down the street to the nationwide franchise transmission and automotive repair shop and told them you need a new transmission only to later find out you had an electrical short between the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) and the solenoid pack?
